New Years Resolutions

I don't really like New Years. I don't know why but it just makes me feel blah,  kind of bummed out or maybe a better way to describe is "let down". . Maybe it's because I have never done anything super fun to ring in the New Year. Or maybe it's because I don't like getting older. Or maybe it's because I don't like New Years Resolutions. But what ever the reason may be, I just know that I don't like New Years and I never make resolutions...until this year.

This year was typical of all the others, just a quiet night at home with my family to bring in the New Year. We allowed the kids to stay up late (they wanted to try to stay awake to watch the ball drop) and to light some fire crackers in the back yard. And New Years day was just as ordinary as any other...nothing special to write about or resolutions to record and commit to. But after a few days I realized that I needed to do something to help me stay accountable to my commitment to read my Bible. So on January 4th I made the commitment to read through the entire Bible in 90 days! Yikes! That's a lot of reading each day!! I am using the Bible App on my phone and each day I get a reminder that includes the day, date and the book/chapters that I need to read. It's great because I can "check" it off when I finish each chapter. After 5 days, I will confess that I have fallen behind in my reading but I will catch up and finish in the 90 days. I love having a goal, a plan to meet the goal and seeing the daily progress (checking each chapter off on my phone app). I'm excited to see what God will reveal to me during this 90 day journey in His word.

I still want to figure out a way to be excited about New Years. Maybe I can find a fun way to ring in the New Year, like go to New York City and watch the ball drop in Times Square? Or attend a party where I can get all dressed up? Or  maybe just have some family and friends over for a fun game night!  What ever way you ring in the New Year and what ever your resolutions may be, I hope that you make time to study God's word and grow more in His knowledge and grace this year.

Reflections

I can't say that I'm sad for 2013 to be over. It was another tough year for me not just physically but also emotionally and spiritually. As I reflect on the past 12 months, I realize that the let down I felt this past year was due to the fact that I welcomed 2013 with high expectation to be "so much better" than 2012. I was excited to say good bye to the difficulties of 2012...the sadness of a miscarriage and the emotional and physical pain of breast cancer. But 2013 proved to be just as difficult as the previous year just in different ways.

As I was reflecting on the challenges of this past year and praying for the new year, the Lord brought this verse to mind.

"The mind of man plans his own ways, but the Lord directs his steps". Proverbs 16:9

This past year I have learned more about myself. How strong I really am yet how much I need the Lord. My prayers for 2014 is to seek God above all else and to allow Him direct each and every step of my life.

Happy New Year!

"Come near to God and he will come near to you". James 4:8

May this year bring you peace, love, happiness and most importantly closer to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Happy New Year!

Terrain

Terrain

Terrain Living Herbals are:
  • Raw
  • Living
  • Certified Organic
  • Antioxidants
  • Enzymes
  • Probiotics
  • Organic Acids
  • Zero Calories

After I stopped chemo treatments I focused on restoring my health. I wanted to detox and get all the excess chemo out as well as cleanse my liver and kidney's and other vital organs. During treatments I was faithful to drink lemon water to help reduce the acidity from the chemo but after treatments I focused on restoring the proper Ph balance by drinking organic, raw, apple cider vinegar.

I was so excited when Beyond Organic introduced Terrain! It is a fermented, raw, living herb supplement that will target specific problems. I immediately began taking Terrain Turmeric to help with my joint pain (one of the many side effects of chemo). After 2 weeks I noticed a significant improvement and after 3 weeks I did not have any joint pain at all...ever, not even first thing in the morning! I was so excited about how well it worked that I gave the rest of it to my friend to try before I reordered. So I didn't have any to take for a couple weeks and my stiff, sore aches and joint pain all came back. I'm happy to say I reordered and am pain free once again!

There are 9 varieties of Terrain: Ginger, Milk Thistle, Sacred Herbs, Peppermint, Turmeric, Oregano, Holy Basil, Echinacea, Kombucha. Each supplement contains vitamins, probiotics, enzymes, and antioxidants, as well as powerful active compounds that give traditional herbs their health benefits. Rebuild your inner-ecosystem and replenish the key nutrients your body craves with Terrain Living Herbals.

My New Years Resolution

Happy New Year!!

January is the time of year when everyone makes resolutions for the New Year. As I have taken time to think of New Years resolutions for myself I realized something: I don't like making New Years Resolutions; which is probably why I usually don't make them and the few times I did, I didn't keep them.

In the weeks following Christmas an old Keith Green song that I loved as a kid kept coming to my mind. I have found myself walking around the house singing it and then I really started thinking about the words. And one day while I was singing and thinking about the words, I had a another realization: This year I was not going to make a New Years resolution, I was going to make a Life Time resolution.

I have been praying the words of this song...it really is my hearts desire!

Make my life a prayer to You
I wanna do what You want me to
No empty words and no white lies
No token prayers no compromise

I wanna shine the light You gave
Thru Your Son You sent to save us
From ourselves and our despair
It comforts me to know You're really there

Chorus:
Well I wanna thank You now
For being patient with me
Oh it's so hard to see
When my eyes are on me
I guess I'll have to trust
And just believe what You say
Oh you're coming again
Coming to take me away

I wanna die and let You give
Your life to me so I might live
And share the hope You gave me
The love that set me free

I wanna tell the world out there
You're not some fable or fairy tale
That I've made up inside my head
You're God the Son and You've risen from the dead

Chorus

I wanna die and let You give
Your life to me so I might live
And share the hope You gave me
The love that set me free

A Child Is Born!

For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
    Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6

Christmas is the time of year to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus. It's the most wonderful time of the year and my most favorite holiday! I love everything about the season; the decorations, the lights, decorated trees and Christmas carols all put me in a good mood.
But the reason I love this time of year the most is that (almost) everyone recognizes that we are celebrating the birth of Jesus. I have made a conscience effort make this a priority in our family so that we don't lose focus of the real reason for the holiday. One thing we do is make a "happy birthday cake" for Jesus and celebrate his birthday on Christmas Eve. Another way to teach the kids about the birth of Jesus is by having Nativity scenes around the house for them to play with and set up.
I LOVE nativity scenes and have several up around the house. I have some that the kids are allowed to play with and arrange and then I have a few that are breakable and off limits to little hands.
The kids take turns arranging the sets daily.

My mom gave me this one my first year of marriage.

My dad made this ceramic nativity. It's my favorite!

I hope and pray that you will take some time this Christmas to share the love of Christ with your friends and family. A love so strong that God sent His ONLY son to earth, to be born as a baby and to live a sinless life, then to die in our place and to take the punishment of our sins on His shoulder.
That is what Christmas is all about!

Merry Christmas!
